Get the bigger picture of your life by zooming out to a week view and see how your key data is trending week-over-week.
We're excited to share these major enhancements we made to Timeline! Many of you have requested the ability to interact with your data at time scales larger than the 24 hours you can see now. In the long term, we're aiming to display up to a lifetime's worth of data. With this latest release, you can start seeing the bigger picture by observing trends in your life at a week level.
See me demo the new features so you can get started too!
Viewing data at larger time scales is important because it becomes easier to spot anomalies and trends, especially in data that frequently fluctuates. Now you are able to view numeric data aggregated at the week level in seven 24-hour chunks. Switch between day view and week view without having to adjust any other setting on Timeline.
We've also made it easier for you to identify trends by adding new options to view trend lines overlaid onto your charts for both the day and week view. You can start to explore questions like, "why was my heart rate higher on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday compared to last week?"
Quickly compare data and trends without losing context. The previous period trend line allows you to see the average values for each interval in the last period (i.e., 15 minutes for day view and 1 day for week view). Compare data on the charts with the current average and previous average trend lines as well.
We color coordinated the current period with teal and the previous period with blue for clear distinguishability throughout the Timeline view. Hovering over the trend line icons to the right of the charts highlights the corresponding trend line. Chart tooltips show an additional blue value from the previous period so you can view the details of the previous period trend line.
Simple trend arrows indicate the week-over-week trend showing movement from the previous period to the current period. This allows you to glance and see if you're trending up or down in any particular area. Listed below it, you can find the delta (plus or minus difference) between them. You can view the precise percent change on hover over the trend arrow.
Stay tuned for sleep data on week view and the release of our new sharing feature that will allow you to securely share your data with another person like your coach or physician!
